Nookies Bakeshop is a boutique bakeshop based in Calgary, Alberta. Cookier Nikki crafts custom decorated sugar cookies personalised for each client. Nookies Bakeshop also offers a variety of other baked goods such as traditional cookies- like chocolate chip or monster cookies, carrot cake, lemon bars, butter tarts, and the addictive delicacy Cookie Butter Cheesecake!
Brett Heidi is a painter of horses, farm animals and Alberta wildlife. Growing up in rural Alberta, she derives inspiration from her past and present exposure to country living infused with that of living abroad. Her work is expressive using large loose brushstrokes of translucent and undermixed acrylics. Her goal is to capture the feeling in a moment, leaving it open to interpretation so the viewer may be evoked to have their own story or to recall a treasured memory.

What started as an offer to help a horsewoman friend stay warm in the saddle during our crisp Alberta winters has turned into a unique and captivating collection of women’s specialty riding apparel. Our signature piece is our Susannah Women’s Riding skirt, which has made its presence know now in five different countries. The Creative Daughter has also added a number of stunning street and riding coats, as well as vests and split skirts to the ever expanding collection. All our designs are hand crafted, one at a time, in our lovely home based studio in Drayton Valley, Alberta. November 2023 will be The Creative Daughter’s 2nd anniversary (yes we are the new kid on the block)! These first two years have been a wild and crazy adventure, and a total unexpected surprise. We’ve enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people at rodeos, stampedes, and equestrian events around western Canada. We’ve had the privilege to provide two Miss Rodeo Canadas and numerous other lovely young royals with our captivating Susannah riding skirts and matching Everly neck wraps. We’ve also had so much fun watching some our sponsored horsewomen in action at Extreme Cowboy events. We expect the year ahead to be as exciting and memorable as our first two years. Indigenous beading takes hours of design and precision work, plus skill and quality materials. All of that is on display on Sakihta Swag’s Beaded Billie Hat. The fedora-style hat (made by Gigi Pip) showcases stunning glass beadwork on its brim and headband, making up more than 1,000 beads. For owner Racquel Fraser, she loves the look of beaded hats, and using fashion and style as a medium of expression and celebration of her Cree culture. Beading is not only a creative outlet but a meditative activity. “Our people believe that beads have spirits and that when you are making a project you must have a “good mind” while working on it,” says Fraser. “This forced me to turn my self doubt and feelings of failure into positive self-care and create something beautiful out of a difficult time in my life.”
